4806
Foundation was created primarily to provide a financial resource
for young people who are seeking treatment for substance abuse
and related disorders.
4806 Foundation was born of experiences at Gray
Wolf Ranch, an innovative and successful wilderness-based
extended care program in the Pacific Northwest for young men
recovering from addiction. It became clear that many young adults
and their families could not afford the types of treatment that
could only be made available through business-based programs.
Based on the belief that no one should be denied treatment because
of financial need, the Foundation was formed to provide scholarships
for deserving young adults who want to make a profound lifestyle
change - to turn their lives around to become sober and productive.
With
the assistance of 4806 Foundation, more young men and women
will be able to participate in the carefully developed and well-run
treatment programs available in the private sector. These therapy
providers, who are carefully screened by the Foundation, must
meet stringent criteria, including licensing, accreditation,
cost-effectiveness, and a proven history of success. Scholarship
beneficiaries must be accepted into one of these approved programs,
in addition to demonstrating financial need. All scholarship
funding is provided directly to the theraputic program; the
Foundation does not make payments to individuals in recovery.
4806
Foundation also advises and educates young people about the
many options available to guide and support them in their struggle
with substance abuse. The Foundation provides information regarding
types of treatment and referrals to licensed providers
